The Fundación has awarded the author of the winning crowdsourced video with a scholarship for an image and design course and 1,700 euros in cash. The ten runners-up received cash prizes and Fundación Serrano hams.
July 11 2012- The President of the Fundación del Jamón Serrano Español, Juan Carlos Tejero, and Vicepresident Antonio Arroyo, have presented the awards to the ten winning videos of the online video contest "Jamón Serrano al Corto - Short Film Festival," a crowdsourcing effort which encouraged original, creative and fantastic short films featuring Serrano ham and other products under the Serrano ham TSG.
For this initiative the Fundación worked closely with Userfarm.com, a network of videomakers specialized in solutions using this new type of marketing, through which the filmmakers were able to participate in this proposal.
"El Elegido", the piece entered by videomaker Rubén Gil, was the first prize winner, and Mr. Gil has been awarded a scholarship for a course in image and design worth 2,300 euros, and 1,700 euros in prize money. The winning video can now be seen on the Fundación website: www.fundacionserrano.org
Second, third and fourth place videos were awarded with 500, 300 and 200 euros respectively, and fifth through tenth place videos received a Serrano ham bearing the Fundación counterlabel.
Userfarm-The Videomakers Network is the number one international video crowdsourcing platform in Italy, France, Spain, Germany and the UK, and offers the possibility of involving a network of 35,000 videomakers in the creation and production of a wide range of content through various video contests.
The activities of the Fundación del Jamón Serrano Español for promoting one of the most representative products of Spanish gastronomy include promotional and communication campaigns, both within Spain and abroad, for various interest groups: professionals, consumer motivators, consumers from all segments, press and the media, etc.
With this in mind, the Fundación is providing consumer information in nutrition, health, gastronomy, and selection of Serrano hams through possibilities offered by new technologies, the Internet, online marketing and social networks, encouraging direct consumer contact and feedback. This online short film contest, "Jamón Serrano al Corto," forms part of this promotional and educational activity, which will continue over the coming months with new initiatives on Facebook and Twitter.

About the FUNDACIÓN del JAMÓN SERRANO ESPAÑOL
La Fundación del Jamón Serrano was created in 2000 and comprises close to one hundred ham manufacturing industries in 13 regions. Its objective is to promote, publicize and protect the "Jamón Serrano" designation, backed at Community level by the Traditional Speciality Guaranteed (TSG) label.
Hams bearing the FUNDACIÓN label are available exclusively in the Reserva category, for hams which have been cured for a minimum of 12 months, and Gran Reserva, for hams which have been cured for more than 15 months. Our sliced, packaged ham has been cured for 10 months, situating FUNDACIÓN hams well above the levels required by Community regulations for TSG.
La FUNDACIÓN DEL JAMÓN SERRANO ESPAÑOL closed the 2011 fiscal year with an 8.7% increase in products bearing the FUNDACIÓN label as compared to the previous year, which means that our member companies sold an equivalent of 2.5 million pieces from our various categories in all formats.
